The unit of translation volume measurement is a standard page consisting of 1800 printed characters (without blank spaces). If a document to be translated is presented in the electronic form, then it is not difficult to determine the text volume, as the statistical data on the text, including on the number of characters contained therein, is available practically in any text editor (Open Office, MS Word, etc.). In order to obtain such a statistical data you should open the text in the MS Word program, select the “Service” option and then the “Statistics” sub-option. In order to determine the number of the standard translation pages, it will be necessary to divide the number of “Characters (without blank spaces) by 1800 (1800 characters without blank spaces comprise the standard page). Exceptions are made for translations into/ from the languages, which writing system consists of or uses hieroglyphs. Calculation of the cost for translation into/ from Chinese will be made by way of multiplication of the number of “Characters” by 3 and dividing the product by 1800.
